The majority of our books and journals are also available in electronic form. We also offer our authors open access as a mode of publishing. The various models for journal articles, contributions to collective works and monographs are briefly explained here. The publisher will gladly provide further information upon request.
Journals – Open Access (Gold)
All of the publisher's journals make articles which have been accepted by the editorial team available via open access if the author so wishes. Access is granted as soon as the invoice for the OA fee (currently 1,500 euros plus 19% VAT) has been paid.
Journals – Open Access (Green)
The publisher authorises all journal authors (not only those privileged by UrhG § 38 para. 4) to publish their contributions on their personal website and feed them into the repository of their institution in the accepted manuscript version – but not in the publisher's formatting – twelve months after the first publication. Authors are requested to cite the journal as the source of the first publication.
A further regulation applies to the Zeitschrift für Bibliothekswesen und Bibliographie: All issues of ZfBB are automatically made available via open access by the publisher twelve months after publication.
Contributions in edited collective volumes
The publisher allows all authors to publish their contributions in edited collective volumes in the accepted manuscript version – but not in the publisher's formatting – on their personal website and in the repository of their institution twelve months after the first publication. Authors are requested to cite the book as the source of the first publication.
Contributions in edited volumes can also be made available via open access by the publisher as soon as the publication fee has been paid. The amount of the fee depends on the number of contributions and the size of the volume. If possible, the agreement on open access should be made before the volume is published. The publisher will gladly answer specific enquiries.
Monographs
The costs of making a monograph available via open access needs to be calculated in relation to the project. In this calculation, the time having elapsed between the publication of the printed monograph and its open access publication is a crucial point. The publisher will gladly answer specific enquiries.
